TomTom - Move Portal

In TomTom Traffic & Travel Information department I have been working for over half year as a UX (Generalist) designer. My responsibilites was to support the Move Portal - the landing page for the customers using TTI applications. 

Although I had a various assignments in this project, in this story I would like to tell about one of my challanges in the Move Portal project: designing new functionalities in existing view.

CHALLANGE:
One of the functionalities of Move Portal is displaying the information about all users of the portal. This functionality is available based on credentials and it has a bunch of users with different use-cases. The challange was to understand the users needs and design tailored solution.

Reseach

To understand the users needs I started with very intense interviews, one-to-one. Due to pandemic reasons I wasn't able to talk to the users in person, so I used digital methods& tools like Slack or MS Teams. 

Moreover, I had an opportunity to watch the videos of recently conducted interviews with the users. The interviews concerned the entire Move Portal, but the topics related to the functionality of the users view were also raised. That gave me ever broader view of the problem.

I collected the list of the use-cases, insights and even preferable solutions!

Ideation

Having in mind the research output I started to draw on the paper the idea of how to address the users needs. Very quickly I transfered the sketches into digital designs, for the sharing purposes.

The Move Portal was build with design system componens, so in fact, I was designing visual right away. I used Sketch application for that.

Prototype & Testing

The project has been tested on the design level by the UX Team and the dev team. Next it was implemented and testes with users. I received feedback and incorporated fixes into design (e.g. visibility of the disabled icons) and pass it directly to the developers.
